Letchworth Village - August 23 8:30-10:30pm (Tentative; Details TBD)

NOTE: This post is to save the date. I'll open registration as soon as details are confirmed with the Town of Haverstraw. Finally heard from Town of Haverstraw, likely to happen 8/23, but waiting for final confirmation before opening registration.

Letchworth Village is an abandoned residential institution for the “physically and mentally disabled of all ages.” Permanently closed in 1996, the buildings have fallen into serious disrepair, with some already collapsing and others in reasonably decent shape. Overgrown exteriors, decay and vandalism, and graffiti abound. This is a great location for urbex and abandoned photography, or to photograph background images for composites. The plan is to do a night photography and light painting session of the exterior of the buildings, but I am still completing the permit process with the town to allow us access. If for some reason they won’t allow night access, we will reschedule as a day trip. Please note that due to lead paint and asbestos contamination, you will not be allowed into any of the buildings, and are expected to comply with this rule during the club trip. Cost will be $10 per member to cover the cost of a town employee to accompany us. My hope is to have one or more models in appropriately “creepy” dress to accompany us on this evening and model in front of the exteriors.

Here are some scouting images I took on my iPhone:
